Traditional Chinese Dragon 23kt Gold on Apple Red KitchenAid Mixer -Custom

I absolutely adore this mixer. A lot of research and connections were utilized to try achieve accuracy on this theme, including but not limited to scales, claws, direction of the dragon, etc… The dragon is all 23kt gold with slight shading added and embellished with a fire stone Swarovski crystal for its eye. It reflects light from different angles, sometimes yellow, orange, and even red.

Really a great piece I am happy to have part of my collection / portfolio.

Enjoy!

Digital Concepts VS. Completion of Custom Hand-Painted KitchenAid Mixers

Hi Everyone!

The one thing that seems to be confused the most is our rendering process…So I am posting this to share with you a more in-depth description of how it works.

Renderings are digital concepts of images I like or am inspired by, for the mixer shape, that I collect. They are only to gain an idea of layout, direction, sometimes colors and feel. They are never intended to be an exact representation of the artwork to be commissioned. I like to refer to them as our loose guideline, something to build from…as our inspiration or a foundation to ensure we’re both on the same page.

Sometimes when we go to paint the designs, they need to be adjusted to compliment the mixer shape. Sizes can vary, colors vary, and I may like to feel inspired to add additional things. Things I feel will take it to whole different level. A level that improves the initial concept we discussed.

The fee’s vary depending on simplified to complex. Starting at $50-$150. Each fee allows for up to 3 variations. If you choose to move forward upon approval the fee that was paid goes towards the artwork. If you choose not to proceed, the fee in non-refundable for my time.

If you do require more than 3 variations I will discuss your options further…the fee will not go towards the artwork because of the additional invested time it takes me to do the work. Additional fee may apply.

Here are a few examples for you to compare the concept, to completion of each hand crafted KitchenAid mixer!

Adorable Polka Dot Custom KitchenAid in Hot Pink!

Love this polka dot mixer and I’ve wanted to do one for some time. In fact it’s one of many ideas I have! This one was finally brought to life. :)

2012 Academy Awards Oscar Swag -Behind the scenes

My lovely friend and talented photographer Heather Lynn was able to stop in daily to document our process in painting the thirty Custom hand-painted KitchenAid Mixers for the Oscar nominees and presenters staying at the Four Seasons Hotel.

I was (and still am) very excited for this opportunity…Things don’t come easy and although it appears to from the outside, it’s not the case. That is why these opportunities I do get, I value. It’s a combination of my hard work, perseverance, and support…people that believe in what I do, because without that there is nothing. I have been very blessed and thank God each moment for all that I have had and continue to get.

Only appropriate by starting this off by thanking our wonderful sponsors and people that just make things happen, because nobody stands alone:

1. Lisa Gal
2. KitchenAid
3. Coast Airbrush
4. House of Kolor
5. Iwata Medea
6. Ephemera
7. Heather Lynn & Keith of Heather Lynn Photographie
8. Mariah M.
9. Zach V.
10. Mike L.
11. Abel S.
12. Lynn A.
13. Shane S.
14. Fai G.
15. Postnet Snohomish
16. Sherri Candland
I hope I haven’t left anyone out…if I did, my apologies. Let me know :)

This project was particularly difficult only because I can’t use any images or likeness that could or would potentially violate ip (intellectual property) rights. In addition to that another concern was timing and how fast I can produce these mixers. So with that said…I couldn’t get too elaborate and preferred to stay away from the typical cartoon look that everyone uses to express Hollywood. I wanted to achieve that old skool glamour and classic feel.

Here are the custom letterpress tags made by Ephemera

For the mens designs I wanted more of a Film Noir feel. For the Ladies, classic glamour and lets be honest, it’s always about what did they wear that night, right? So their theme came to be more of a premier night / red carpet.

I love these kinds of projects where I get to make up what ever I’d like. I think I changed it 3-4x. Even in progress LOL. That’s just how I roll. ;)

Here are some of the nominees and presenters who were able to take home one of these limited edition bad boys…

Macy’s Sip & Scan event w/ The Knot!

Macy’s is hosting a virtual event for Thursday. Please RSVP this link here.

The Knot is doing a bit on KitchenAid mixers (well, they are the #1 requested item on registries) and pretty excited that a few of my pieces will be included as a small part of it.

A special thanks to my lovely friend Heather Lynn She does all of our amazing shoots here at Un Amore. Her work is so creative, colorful, and unique!

This is a great event to take part in or even share for any bride to be! So please pass this information along. Looks really cool and I can’t wait to see it myself!

Special thanks to The Knot!!! Thank you for the consideration and opportunity!
Much love, Nick
